V.O.I.P.

I just saw the commercial for AT&T's new VOIP service (voice over internet provider). Does anyone know information about laws listening in on conversation over the internet? If I use an IP phone service, does the government still need a wiretap to listen in on my phone call or is it open domain since it's over the internet?
