Fuck the UN

After calling Americans “stingy” because our government is giving so “little” aid to the tsunami victims, we should remind Jan Egeland at the United Nations that we are a charitable people and give our aid through private organizations. This exemplifies how the world misunderstands us AND charity; governments should not rob people of more money through taxes to give aid!

Jan Egeland can be reached at 212.963.1234 and his direct fax number is 212.963.0116. We should let him know his comments are not appreciated—especially since the UN is doing nothing for Iraq, and last time I checked Saddam murdered over a million people. The people in SE Asia who are weeping because the “sea ate their children” could really use the $23,000,000,000 lost in the Oil-for-Food scam.

I could just spit.

I forget - what is it we derive as a nation for our billions of dollars provided to the UN and its various agencies? World Respect? Yeah, right.

Let's invite them to leave and take their scofflaw, seditious, America-hating so-called diplomats with them! Think of the good effect on NYC's housing shortage! Think of the PROFITS we could make by selling that building on the East River to some savvy developer! Think of the number of people dedicated to undermining our country who would be GONE!

We (the U.S.) take it in the face because due to the actions of this Republican administration, our international reputation isn't worth spit.

We are certainly not stingy. But nobody in the world will give us credit because we're walking around with a big "kick me" sign on our posterior.

Thank you Mr. Bush.

Certainly Al Qaeda and Muslim extremist Jihadists believe democracy itself to be antithetical to theological rule.. Sharia. Democracy is, by definition, rule by all the people. They believe in "God's" rule via Sharia through a certain holy Caliphate. So, in that sense, you are correct.

However, I was referring to our alienation of our friends.

America's eighteenth and early nineteenth-century statesmen sounded much like the European statesmen of today, extolling the virtues of commerce as the soothing balm of international strife and appealing to international law and international opinion over brute force.

Even after its rise to superpower status in the wake of World War Two, Washington preferred a course, at least officially, that promoted international law and multilateral institutions, particularly as a means to restrain the Soviet Union.

In effect, the United States spun a web of institutions that connected other states to an emerging American-dominated economic and security order.

However, what this Republican administration has done is mock international law and world opinion. We've created a set of rules, and one of the rules is that rules are for others.

Once again, you're misleading your readers. Here is the entire quote, which in no way singles out Americans and specifically says Westerners are willing to pay more than their governments are donating.

Lying will get you nowhere.

STCA and Company, Thanks so much. It's good to know that other people see the fact that we can't just concentrate on being liked, especially when many of our foe would like to see us fail.

While it's certainly tru the U.S. has made soem mistakes, I'm hard pressed to see who else has stepped up to the plate and done more.

I am married into a Taiwanese family and we debate U.S. policy often. It seems most of the world is willing to live in fear and squalor, rather than risk being disliked. I'm happy with being disliked.

No, shouldn't just randomly bomb other countries and depose foreign governments for sport. But, really, who other than the liberal media, spoiled wannabe hippies, and our jealous former benefactors actually believes that's what we're doing?

Anyway, thansk again for your insight and wisdom. 'My first reply ever. 'Sorry to ramble.
